Thank you for the quick update. Unicode works fine now in all combinations: special charachters in paths, filenames and project names.
Have a fine X-mas time! Greetings from snowy Vienna

Thank you for your work, this is the only app we’ve buyed this year, and our satisfaction is bigger than the money we have spent for. GREAT!

Hey I really love this little “great” Utility. But I wish I can export it to an 3D-File like 3ds (like i can import it). The reason is I want to finish some work in Photoshop Extended. Is there something planned like this?

Is it normal behavior that the CPU load is 100% on both cores (dual core cpu, win xp) on rendering? It’s annoying that my pc is not usable anymore when Box Shot 3d is rendering. When I can switch to another program, Box Shot 3d uses only one core, but activating another program is almost impossible even the mouse becomes really slow.

When I render with for example Kerythea (both cores), it also uses 100% (visible on CPU usage in Windows task manager), but it is still possible to use the pc and other programs.

Emiel, yes it is normal behavior. Box Shot 3D uses all available cores for rendering when it is active. If you switch to another application, it releases one core for it.

This was implemented more than a year ago and we haven’t had problems with it since those time. It is very strange that you can’t switch to another application. This may depend of your computer specs and maybe from the other software running at the same time with rendering.

Please contact me using the support form or by e-mail, so we can discuss this in more details.

Martin – I don’t think this will be added soon. There are lots of more-often-requested features in the TODO-list. But you are not the first who asking about it, so I will add it finally. But not in the near future.

Hej Vitaly,

i wish you a Happy new year!

Thanks for implementing the Transparencies for external files!

Its not perfect as you told, but in some cases could make a good job.

As it looks the main problem is that the image is only visible on the outer side of the surface. The inner side appears in white/gray. But anyway i’m already very happy with this option! :-)

Thanks Péter, the Fridgeman ;-)

Pèter, thanks. Transparency highly depends on the both sides of the shape. Usually you need transparent images on both sides of the shape with correct mapping, to get a good results. All this is carefully adjusted for built-in shapes, but most 3DS files may lack such features. As a result you get what you have got. But sometimes this may work, indeed.

Hej Vitaly,

right, sorry the transparencies are working on both sides of the surface, i tried it in a simple model now! perfect!

Thanks, this is more that i have asked for!

I tried your software and it does not look stable on the mac. I am using an iMac with dual core 2.16 and 2GB of RAM… the image on the software is blurry and does not seem to render at all…. Please confirm if this software works well on Mac OS X leopard before I purchase a license. Thanks.

his altesse, this usually happens when the serial number field in the registration window is not empty. Please open the registration window and clean everything you see there. Then restart Box Shot 3D. I bet you will see the correct image after that.

Yes, Box Shot 3D works pretty well on Mac OS X starting from Tiger. Both Leopards included :)

I’m really impressed with the latest version of this program. I’m wondering whether I could request an option on hardcover books so that the spine (or side) is flat rather than curved. It’s just that some kids books are landscape rather than portrait and are fairly thin with thick cardboard covers. The spines are usually flat rather than curved.

Thanks – it’s a great program.

Hi!

I bought your programm a few days ago and appearently there is a problem with the save and open file process (win version). Saving works fine but I am unable to load files… always getting an error-msg (Syntax: “error loading file”).

Any clues?

Thanks in advance,
Simon

Nice job as always. Now that I use BoxShot such a long time I would like to ask for a new feature in one of the next updates ;)

I’m using BS a lot, almost every day lately to create designs of customer service cards. And I would really love to have an option to create a width for those cards. It’s always so flatten and a thickness of some millimeters would great for a more realistic view. Hope this is possible!

Again, very good piece of software, really worth it’s money! Keep up the good work.

I asked a question some time ago (can’t remember when exactly) about transparency, specifically on your CD jewel case. Will this ever be considered?

Second, will saving camera, lighting, and environment settings be considered for a future version? Might be useful for folks who create concepts containing different objects.

Thomas, I’ll take a look if it is possible to add.

Vin Carrillo, I am still yet to implement transparent CD boxes, sorry. But I am going to do this at last.

Regarding the second point, did you try presets? It looks like they do exactly what you need.

+1 regarding the 5, 6 or even 7 folds for brochures. :)

It is the only thing I actually miss in this great application.

Hi Vitaly, the current version of Box Shot 3D is excellent and I’m very happy with it. Just wondering what you have planned and if there are any new versions in the works?

I can’t wait to use it for my presentations and clients! I’ve been making my own in Photoshop! I zeroed right in on your program tonight after a quick on line search. I have an ebook to design tonight…I can’t wait to see what else you do.
