Rogier, yes you have to change height map image to tweak the bump level. This is because of the fact, that several sides may share the same bump image and I will need to share the bump level too, or make copies of the image for each side, that may eat lot of memory.

I'll think about it and maybe add a slider to control bump level in the future versions. Thanks for suggestion.

The bump part is very nice, but there's no way to tweak the bump anywhere ? Like more or less bump ?

I'm getting ready to use this wonderful addition!

I'm not a designer, I'm just a writer wannabe. I would like to create a cover almost like the one shown here: Golden, embossed letters plus three rectangular images below (in fact, three stamps).

Where can I find these "height images"? I google them and found nothing (I looked for leather height image).

Or it is just a big "leather background" that I have to convert to a grey scale image? And then add the three black rectangles where I want the stamps to be?

The good side of leaving Vitaly alone for a few months is that when you get back to here you find plenty of new toys to play with!

The bad side is that there is always something "about to be released" that you want NOW

:)

Vitaly, thanks a lot for you continuous support and improvements.

I support the idea of create a sort of community-maintained resource base.

All the best,
Will

James, it is likely that I release a new post today :)
New version will be released in November. I have just a few unchecked items in my list. Stay tuned.

Good idea, Loz. The application has grown to the point where we users could really benefit from being able to share 3D shapes, textures, and any other files we can use! Maybe if enough of us ask for it...

Paul..I doubt the application will have the materials and textures option as Boxshot 3d is a tool at the end of a day so you will have to have all your own image files ready beforehand.
However could be a nice idea to have a gallery or addition to the Blog where Boxshot users can post and share various textures, be they specular, height maps n all that jazz:)

Will the new version have any textures of its own or will users need to have supply their own? If any come with it, how many and what will they be?

Looking so forward to this version! The wait is agony!

Hiya Vitaly
I knew you would be aware, bit of a perfectionist me thinks;) But hey hats off to you some nice lil' touches that will make all the difference on a final design.
I like to have a wooden surface background for alot of my boxshot stuff, so having the option to make that wood grain have some bit depth is a bonus for sure.
Looking forward to seeing the new magazine shapes you been working on.
Do you think the new version of Boxshot 3D will be unveiled around Xmas?
All the best4now;O)
