Some new images

April 15th, 2009

I am yet to do a lot of things before 2.12 will be released, but something is ready to be shown right now :)

Here are some long-awaited cans (click to see the full version):

Shapes need some polish, but they already look pretty :)

Now, some bottles:

There are many different cans and bottles, and I will add new shapes after yours requests, so feel free to send me photos of what you want to be added. Or you may ask somebody to make such model and use the new feature of 2.12: 3DS-file import. There are tons of free and commercial 3DS models over the Internet and most of them may be loaded to Box Shot 3D (when 2.12 will be released, of course). I downloaded some objects and render them:

Quality of resulting image mostly depends of 3DS file you use. And you may need to try several different files before you will find a good one. Anyway, 3DS files is a good alternative if you need to render custom object.

Well, that’s all folks :)

3ds import!!!! Woohoo.

I purchased your product quite a while ago and am VERY happy with it. For custom object renderings, I’ve always resorted to a full 3d package. With 3ds import inside boxshot3d, I can save the headache of setting up clean studio scenes(Lighting/Shadows/Transparency) just to render a quick 3d object.

Thanks Again!

Can you add this model for magazines?

Thank you

Eduardo, don’t you think that the bottom right corner looks “unnatural”? Maybe it will be better to add slightly curved, symmetric paperback book/magazine shape instead of this one?

Yes, You’re right, I think it would be better as you say

You guys rock! Just some small thing I hate, I often forget to visit you guys for new versions and stuff. How about creating a twitter account so we can follow you guys? Would appreciate that a lot!

Keep up the good work, looking forward to the new version with 3DS import, yeah!

Thomas, Twitter eats lots of time, so I try to avoid it :)

News are always posted to the blog, blog has RSS-feed that you may subscribe. And there are lots of RSS-to-Twitter gateways, that may help to read news in Twitter.

As soon I have replaced old illustrations by pictures rendered with Box Shot 3D on my website, I get a lot of very good comments about it!

Thank you, it’s a very good job.

Hey just a thought but is there any chance of a condensation option on the cans? That would be very cool indeed :)

I too purchased a key a while back and have never regretted it. The new features that get added are really useful and major steps in development. Well done and thanks for the hard work.

I have tried your demo and i didnt’t fullfill my expectactions because there isn’t any option to make the thikness of a DVD Boxshot Spine increasing or decreasing accordingly…
Also you can add some curvature on spine. Please check at http://www.videocopilot.net boxshots.

Thanks in advance…

Vangelis, CD and DVD boxes have standard size and it is not a good idea to allow to change this. If you really need a different box - just use “software box” shape, that can be resized.

yeah, perhaps the spine thickness should not be changeable (although vangelis may have specific requirements in that regard), but some curvature would be luvely.

any chance of that? it’ll make the dvd case look more realistic, for sure!

Jamal, do you want more “curved” edges of the DVD box?

Actually, one image costs thousand words. Could you post a close-up photo of the DVD box with some marks and arrows of what you want and what Box Shot 3D doesn’t allow?

Is there an efficient way to minimize amount of white space around rendered 3D images? I have been trying to find solution that I can consistently apply to any project. I am rendering hundreds of 3D images using command line and have no way to check if an image fit inside the canvas. Please respond somebody experienced the same problem

Bro,

nice app, really nice but I agree with Vangelis and would like the ability to offer similar images to http://www.videocopilot.net

That image allows multiple DVD sets to be created in place of creatng 2 or 3 separate DVD boxs and then pasting over the top.

So the ability to have multi volume DVD boxsets would be perrfect!!
