Soft Cover Books

December 5th, 2008

I got a lot of feedback about soft cover books. The one book that Box Shot 3D currently have is opened a bit and this annoys many users. Well, they’ll become happy with Box Shot 3D 2.10

There will be two new books: a bit more closed and completely closed. Click thumbnails for full version.

For those, who have many books, there will be two new stacks:

Of course, classic soft cover book and stack will be kept too :)

Thanks, these are nice additions… Only one question:

1) There will be only one “soft cover” option at the main shapes panel, and these altered versions will be options under this shape, right?

Previously, there were several editions of each cover (full, sliced, etc.) and at the latest editions you’ve managed to keep them all at one single shape… with providing options.

Will you follow the same principle here?

Yes, these new shapes will be options of the “Soft Cover Book” and “Soft Cover Stack” shapes.

Full-cover versions were removed after adding cropping feature that allows to do the same with “sliced” version of books.

As the number of shapes grows from version to version, all “altered” shapes will be made as options to the main one.

So can we have the upright book slightly open, but the stacked books all closed?

Krizz, stacked books in the new altered shapes will be closed. The top book may be completely closed or slightly opened. Exactly as you may see on images above.

Hi again
Sorry to keep asking this, but is there any chance to have a fully opened book (hardback and paper back) so pages are clearly visible?

Thank you finally for the enhanced Soft Cover version, as a publisher and book enthusiast I like this much better than the previous version! Thanks for this nice Santa Claus’ gift. Now I’m waiting for Christmas! :-)

I’m doing my best to release it till Christmas. Some features already cut and will appear in 2.11, but you will see 2.10 in the next two weeks.

Actually, it wasn’t cut very much. You will see new book shapes, new stacks, opened books, blurred reflections etc…

Stay tuned :)

Hey there.
I don’t really know where to ask this question, so I guess I’ll ask it in the newest thread (sorry if that’s wrong).

I have a question regarding the software. I’ve looked at a few reviews and gone to a few web pages for box making software of this type, and most of them only seem to be able to render the product, or box, one at a time.

What happens if I want to render a software box, some books, a CD case, a CD, all in the one picture? Is that possible?

Even the possibility to show two boxes side-by-side showcasing the front and back artwork would be useful.

Can your software do this?

Sorry, I didn’t see that the images can be saved with a transparent background which enables them to be composited in Photoshop etc :)
