Just costructive critic, suggestion:

This book does not look natural to me. I think you should:

1. Make spiral more dense
2. Make holes alitlle biger
3. Make spiral diameter litlle bit smaller

Good suggestion. Will try to implement it in the next versions.

I like the spirals, but they should be flexible, ie an A4 size book will need more spirals than an A5 size book. Are you taking this into account? Will we be able to bind at the top and right or only on the left?

And will there be a wireo version (as distinctly different from spiral binding). In my personal experience, books and calendars are more likely to be bound with this method than with spiral binding.

Can we add our own shapes? Or allow installed shapes to fit round images (without fills on images with transparency)

Sarwar, the short answer is “No”. At least in the near future. The main problem is that there is no standard and good file format for that purpose.

The most known is, of course, 3ds format, but it lacks some very important data that need to be calculated on the fly. Other formats like Maya’s OBJ or 3DS Max’s ASE are difficult to parse correct.

The second problem is that you will not be able to adjust anything but scale.

If you still think it is OK – please contact me with details, maybe we’ll find some solution together.

The typical way to add some shape to Box Shot 3D is to ask for it here, in the blog. If the shape will be useful for others – it will be added.

Finally, I am not sure I understand the second part of your question… Did you mean transparent materials? I am yet to add this feature (it will be good for CD, Images and some other shapes).

Hi! I think I’ve understood Sarwar’s idea. If I’m correct he/she thought that there would be great an option to set that the 3D object dimensions are defined by the applied images. Naturally, this way a new input is required to set image DPI (1 for all or for each individually).

This is a nice idea, because graphics artists/web designers/etc work on their drawing with considering its scale and aspect ratio, so why should we set the main dimensions of the object in a second way (by distorsioning the original idea).

There is another option that related to these. For example a simple box have 3 images: Front, Left, Top. In this case Front’s width redefines Top’s width. The mentioned option is for set the dominant (chose the higher or smaller value).

With introducing this “image dimension is applied on the 3D model” option users could save a little time, input is easier, and prevent’s users assigning invalid aspect ratio.

Uchimata, there is a button “Fit to images” on the Images tab/page. It does exactly what you said.

Some shapes (like “magazine”) doesn’t have dimensions settings at all. Some still have.

I think Sarwar wants to load shapes from files (tons of models are available on the Internet, for example take a look at 3dcafe.com). This will lead to some problems.

But I think about it. Maybe I will give this idea a chance

For example when we select CD in shape tab; Is that possible to have two Disc?

Unfortunately, you can’t. I have some plans about this feature, but it will not be implemented in the near future.

You may render two different objects with transparent background and then combine them in graphics editor. This is a bit tricky but allows to get what you want.
