Box Shot 3D 2.9.2: Now For Macs Too

July 25th, 2008

Yes, starting from 2.9.2 Box Shot 3D supports Mac OS X! That was the second big thing we told about. It took 5 months to port Box Shot 3D, but now both versions are identical by features. Feedback is welcome as always.

To Windows users: there is something for you too. Most improvements are related to images. Crop window now opens faster, “open image” window now uses the last used folder, some small glitches were fixed. It is recommended to upgrade.

I think we’ll release few 2.9.X updates while testing Mac-version, but now the main task will be version 2.10 with new shapes and features. Will try to release it in September.

Go for Gold. Congrats.
You are the Best !!!

My personal WISHLIST:

3-Ring-Folder for Manuals. With depth to adjust.
Ugly sample: http://www.insofta.com/images/sample_manual1.png

Spiral bounded book without rounded edges (or to select with/without roundness)

Software boxes which can be opened on the upper side (or wherever)

opened magazine/catalog on the floor modified to a real looking magazine with visible thickness (depth to be modified). Not flat (a 2/4 pager isn’t a magazine).

Sounds great !

Just a little suggestion or bug v.2.9.1.:
If you take the “CD in envelope” and set the disk offset there should be an option for “disk on the floor” (as it is with the “CD box”).

Or is that one already included in 2.9.2,? I’ve not downloaded yet that latest update.

If I will update to 2.9.2. will I loose my customized presets which I saved within the preset manager?

Good idea, will be added in 2.10.

You may upgrade and even uninstall Box Shot 3D and install it again. Your presets are stored in your user’s profile and will not be removed.

I just bought the latest version for the MAC. Software seems to be just fine except I cannot for the life of me figure out how to enter and edit TEXT. I hope this is possible.

Box Shot 3D renders virtual covers, if you need to create side images - you need graphics editor. There are several free applications for Mac, see User Manual for details.

This is absolutely great news that Mac users now can do ebook covers, however I was unpleasantly surprised that I CAN´T try Box shot on my Mac since its Tiger and your soft is ONLY compatible with Leopard. Why is that ???? :((((((((

Thank you for fast reply. Once osX Tiger compatible version will be released I will buy it, no doubt, I´m shure you will get lot more sales too.

Whises:

Yes, more shapes will be fine specialy:

box shapes and book shapes with customizable dimensions

brochures with adjustable dimensions and 4 unfolded pages

thicker or thinner books

also books with panoramic ( horizontal) design would be fine !

Thanks for your attention.

Hi, this new version is good, and the Mac support is much appreciated.

In the meantime, can you please add “Vertical” on/off option to the “Image” shape?

I use “Image” shape to get that one-page paper look for mind maps, checklists, etc. and it would be glad to see them on the floor as well.

And if possible, adding more than one page (2,3, 4, 5 and more) would be cool… (I can get that effect with post-production via Photoshop upto a level, but a built-in feature would be great!)

Thanks!

Volkan, did you try to use “Magazine” shape with extrude set to zero? It will not be completely flat, but I think it’s good enough for your task.

Concerning multiple pages - need to think about this. Thanks for the idea.

Hi Box Shot 3D, thanks for the idea!

“Magazine” shape will work in some cases, but other options the “Image” shape have is good too… (Corner, Border, Curve, etc.)

Thanks again!

Hm…. Actually upgrade is free for all customers of 1.XX and 2.XX versions. Your wish is a big surprise :)

Please contact me by e-mail if you have problems with upgrade.

I am a new user so just getting to grips with my first projects. However, I agree with Design House’s wish list. Control and output quality though are superb!

Do you think 2.1 will make it in September?
Peter
