Box Shot 3D 2.7: Member cards, command line and more

October 7th, 2007

Well, we finally release it. What’s new:

  • Screenshot shape can be used for member cards and photos, check new options: Corner and Border.
  • Presets are now under user control. Create your own presets and use them when you need. They will not change type of the shape, just camera, lighting and environment.
  • Box Shot 3D now supports command line parameters. Now you can create a batch to render several high-res images while you are sleeping. Details are in user manual.
  • Yes, we’ve finally wrote a user manual with the small FAQ and, possible, a lot of mistakes ;) Feel free to send your corrections.
  • And the last one: Box Shot 3D will try to resize boxes and books according to size of side’s images. It is a very-very-beta feature, so give it a chance.

Eye-catcher:

As always, 2.7 is free for existing customers. As always you can get it here. Now we are sitting at the other side of blog and waiting for reports and suggestions from you.

Hello! I bought BS3D yesterday and its superb!

I just miss a few of features:
- Spiral binding!
- 3-holes binding
- To be able to put two or more different boxes together.

I’m sure I’m missing some other but these ones are in the top of my mind.

Thanks anyway!
Will

Fantastic bit of kit.

I too would like to request a multi box option. So you could show a range of software boxes all together, this would be a fantastic addition.

I just wanted to nice ‘Nice Job’. I installed the latest update, and I’m really impressed with the changes. It’s the kind of product that lets people (like me) with no artistic talent create something that’s actually attractive.

If I had one feature request it would be a “Restore Defaults” button on each tab. I like to play with the lighting, angle, and other settings and sometimes go astray. To get back to the initial settings, I have to start over.

BTW, I recommend your product whenever the topic comes up in shareware / ISV newsgroups.

First of all, I applaud whoever created this program. To me, its truly the best and easiest to use program on the market! I wanted to take a minute to suggest some features.

1) I agree with above for the spine options. Right now you have a perfect binding style for the images. Perhaps you can have 3 Binding Style options: Perfect binding, Spiral, 3-holes binding.

2) I like the idea of a Set to Deafult button on each tab. It would restore the settings back to the original settings for the selected template.

3) I would like to see brochure templates. I noticed you introduced a credit card template, which is cool. But I think a template with a brochure standing up with the lighting and environment would be more valuable. I think having a tri-fold, bi-fold and z-fold template with a few variations (lying down, standing up, partially folded, etc.) is the perfect next step for boxshot. First of all, there would be noone even close to it comparatively. And while others do software boxes, box shot would have books and brochures and credit cards. Perfect.

I’ll post other ideas soon. :)

Thanks for ideas. A short reply.
1. That’s not easy, we’ll do our best
2. Will be done in 2.9
3. Already done, will be released in 2.8

We’ll release new version next week. It will have new shapes, new features and I hope no new bugs ;) Stay tuned.

I think this little program is better than sliced bread! I’ve never been impressed with programs that automate the 3d process. They look clunky with jagged lines and unrealistic. So I’ve made my own templates and I do them manually… until I came across this program. This little gem is saving me hours and hours of work. And the result is BEAUTIFUL!

Terrific job! I can’t wait to see what goodies you included in 2.8.

Hello all!
First I would like to say: Nice work!

Here is my wishlist of changes for the next version(s) :o ) :
1) a little bit (really – just a little bit :) better rendering of rounded shapes
2) batch processing
3) some tool for 3D model customizing

I think it’s one of my best friends for presentation of my work now.

Best regards
